Entertainment Management Certificate

SDSU’s Entertainment Management Certificate is available through the Semester at SDSU program of SDSU Global Campus.

This certificate program provides students with specialized knowledge and skills in the area of backstage management of people and technology in the performing arts. Students study and gain experience in stage, production, event management, and business principles of television and film or marketing entertainment. These areas provide a foundation of knowledge for entry-level career positions in managerial and business environments in the creative, cultural, and events industries.

Required Courses

The certificate requires completion of the following courses:

  • THEA 335 – Stage Managment Theory (3 units)
  • THEA 476 – Event Coordination and the Entertainment Industry (3 units)
  • THEA 499 Special Study (3 units) – discipline-specific in areas of entertainment management
  • THEA 537 Production and Event Management in the Arts (3 units)

Students must receive a C grade (2.0) or higher in each course to receive a certificate at the end of the program.

Please note that Global Campus cannot guarantee participation in specific university courses. Students enroll in classes on a space-available basis. Some classes may have pre-requirements.

An F-1 student in this program that has been enrolled for one academic year is eligible to apply for Optional Practical Training (OPT).
