SDSU's Business Engineering Certificate is available through ALI's Semester at SDSU program.

This unique interdisciplinary certificate provides students with specialized knowledge in the areas of business and engineering. Students will have the opportunity to enhance their business knowledge and technical skills through topics of their interest while also gaining an in depth understanding of how business and engineering fit together.

Program Highlights

  • Business and Engineering Courses
    Students take courses in both business and engineering.
  • Official Transcript
    Credits earned are listed on an official SDSU transcript and may be transferable to
    other universities.

Certificate Requirement — 12 Units

Enroll in one Special Session course (3 units) from the following Business Administration and Management courses:

  • B A 323: Fundamentals of Finance
  • B A 350: Management & Organizational Behavior
  • B A 360: Introduction to Operations & Supply Chain Management (may not be offered each semester)
  • B A 370: Introduction to Marketing
  • MGT 352: Human Resource Management
  • MGT 358: Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship

If the student has previously passed all of the courses above, they have the option to select another Special Session course. Proof of course completion and/or an official university letter will be required.

The remaining 9 units are the student's choice, but must be in the departments of:

  • Aerospace Engineering
  • Art (related to design, fabrication, or media)
  • Civil Engineering
  • Computer Engineering
  • Computer Science
  • Construction Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Environmental Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Physics
  • Mathematics
  • Statistics

Please note that the ALI cannot guarantee participation in specific university courses. Students enroll in classes on a space-available basis.

Requirements

TOEFL iBT 61 or IELTS 5.5. Proof of English proficiency is required with application. Students must have completed university coursework in business and have proof of engineering-related field of study by transcript (Business Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, etc.).
